Read our October 2025 highlights below, recapping a month filled with community events, student achievements, and celebrations. It was a busy and rewarding time, marked by farewells to the Matric class, athletic accomplishments, and a spirit of service.
The Kingsmead College matric class of 2025 was warmly welcomed into the Kingsmead College Alumnae (KCA) with a heartfelt induction. This special moment marked the beginning of their lifelong connection to the Old Girls’ Association – a community that celebrates sisterhood and belonging, long after the final school bell rings.
Each matric received a gift filled with uplifting messages – a reminder that they carried with them the light and strength of those around them, as they prepared to step into the next chapter.
The week was dedicated to honouring the matric class of 2025, with events designed to celebrate their journey and give them a beautiful send-off as they prepared to leave the College gates.
Silly Season was in full swing in October! Matrics swapped roles and dressed as staff, and in one case a teacher joined in the fun and dressed as a student. A light-hearted tradition in the Matrics’ final week at Kingsmead.
What a joyful way to celebrate the memories made.
We are incredibly proud of Kaylee O’Hagan (grade 7), who took on the challenging 16km Karkloof Trail Run in KwaZulu-Natal!
Known for its steep climbs, tough terrain, and winding forest paths, this race is no small feat, yet Kaylee showed remarkable endurance, finishing in an impressive 2 hours and 14 minutes.
You are an inspiration to us all, Kaylee.

Collegiate Spring Sports Festival
Well done to our tennis girls who finished 4th after some tough competition at the Collegiate Spring Sports Festival.
We are so incredibly proud of them.

Congratulations to our U15 Waterpolo Team!
Our U15s placed 2nd at the Collegiate Spring Festival, showing incredible teamwork.
A special shout-out to Milan Williams, who was awarded Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament — what an outstanding achievement.
Congratulations are also due to our dedicated coaches for their continued guidance.
At Kingsmead, our teachers do more than teach; they ignite curiosity, nurture courage, and build confidence in every student who walks through our doors. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom, shaping young minds into capable women who go on to make a difference in the world.
In the spirit of Teacher’s Day, our grade 11s came together to share a heartfelt message of gratitude to our incredible teachers and service staff.
Thank you for the countless ways you make Kingsmead a place of learning, care, and community. You make a lasting difference every day.
We appreciate you!
A farewell to the matric class of 2025
In their final week before their departure, our matric class of 2025 spent a heart-warming morning with the grade 0s, which was a visit filled with laughter, songs, and special moments. A beautiful reminder of where every Kingsmead journey begins.
The grade 0s shared a sweet song, followed by playtime, and then presented each matriculant with a rose and a card to wish them well. In true Kingsmead tradition, they formed a tunnel to send our matrics off with cheers and lots of love.
The first week of October marked a special moment for the matric class of 2025 as we celebrated their final chapter at Kingsmead, from a memorable Speech Evening to the deeply moving Valedictory Ceremony.
As these young women prepared to step beyond our gates, we celebrated not only their achievements, but the possibility they carry with them. Each of them has left an indelible mark on our community, and we know they will continue to shine brightly in all that they do.
We wish them every success as they embark on the exciting journeys that lie ahead.
Courage Always.

On 10 October we paused to acknowledge the importance of caring for our minds as much as we do our hearts.
At Kingsmead, we believe that courage is not just about action; it’s also about taking the time to rest, reflect, and reach out when we need support.
Let’s continue to nurture understanding for ourselves and others.

Happy birthday Kingsmead College!
International Day of the Girl Child & Kingsmead Goodwill Day
Celebrating 92 years
As we celebrated another year of courage, purpose, and possibility, we also honoured the International Day of the Girl Child — a day that speaks to everything Kingsmead stands for.
For generations, our community has nurtured young women to lead with heart, think with purpose, and embrace their power to make a difference.
On 10 October we celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child in collaboration with our 92nd Birthday Goodwill Day.
As we reflected on our founding values and the generations of girls who have walked through our gates, we reaffirmed our commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate young women who dream boldly and lead with integrity.
This poem, “Girl Child” (inspired by the Women’s UN Report Network), reminds us of the shared responsibility we hold to support every girl as she steps into her own light.
Girl Child
Dreams your dreams, little one, We surround you, strong and true. Your fears and trials, we make our own, With courage, we walk with you.
We’ll speak when your voice is still, Gather when you seem alone. Your growth, our purpose to fulfill, As you blossom, fully grown.
Dream your dreams, let them unfurl, We’ll carry them on song and dance. A girl child, loved by the world, A chance, a blessing, not by chance.
Stand tall when challenges may bind, We’ll be there when you stumble and fall. For in millions of hearts you’ll find A tapestry that supports all.
Be not afraid to be your light, A goddess of Earth, powerful and bright. Though hard the journey, day and night, Walk forward now, into the dawn’s light.

Kingsmead College came alive with colour and kindness as our community came together for Goodwill Day; a day dedicated to service, gratitude and giving back. From engaging with our incredible service partners to enjoying all the festive fun, every smile and moment captured reminded us of the power of collective action and heart.
The Kingsmead community came together to do good and live our values of courage, responsibility and service.
A huge thank you to our generous sponsors Nedbank and Freeway Toyota for helping make the day such a success.
Congratulations to our three lucky winners, Destiny Sibanda, Tharisha Naidoo, and Arya Dehaloo, who completed their Kingsmead Service Bingo Cards by visiting every service partner stand and each received a R1000 Sandton City voucher! Thank you to Sandton City for sponsoring these vouchers.
To all who celebrated with us, thank you for making Goodwill Day 2025 unforgettable.
Here are some videos from the celebration:
Kingsmead College hosted an Art Auction in support of the Kingsmead Trust Bursary Fund, a wonderful celebration of creativity and giving back.
The evening was opened by alumna Grace O’Malley (class of 2006), now Director at the Goodman Gallery , who shared how her love for art first began at Kingsmead. Guests enjoyed a digital silent auction, scanning and bidding on exceptional artworks.
We were also delighted to welcome back alumnae Storm Warren (class of 2022) and Georgina Clark (class of 2019). Georgina will soon showcase more than 30 of her artworks in a group exhibition at the Glen Carlou Gallery in Cape Town, opening on 19 October 2025. For our Kingsmead College Alumnae in the Cape, this is a wonderful opportunity to show your support for one of our own.
A heartfelt thank you to Iona Wines Elgin for sponsoring the wine for the evening’s tasting. Your support helped make the night even more special.
On 14 October our grade 10 and 11 students gathered in the chapel with Ms Palmer for a time of reflection.
Rooted in our Christian faith, we were reminded of the importance of living with honesty, courage, and grace — staying true to our most authentic selves and the values that guide us.

Leadership at Kingsmead is about more than titles; it’s about service, community, and courage.
We are proud to have introduced our grade 11 Student Leaders for 2026, who have stepped into their roles with passion and purpose under next year’s inspiring theme: Zeal.
With enthusiasm and heart they are ready to lead their peers, uphold the values of Kingsmead, and continue building a community rooted in compassion and zeal.
The grade 2K class had a wonderful time visiting Siyakhana Growth and Development for their service outing!
From exploring the gardens to learning about plants, trees, and vegetables, our girls truly immersed themselves in nature. They got their hands dirty with weeding, planting seedlings, and watering the garden beds, and were fascinated by the worm farm.
The highlight of the day? Tasting fresh mint and lemon verbena.
It was a joyful and meaningful day of discovering the importance of sustainability and caring for our environment.
Our 1st soccer team had a fantastic showing at the Parktown Girls’ Sports Tournament!
A special congratulations to Sofia Allison, who was named MVP for two games, and Lilla Eyles, who earned MVP for four games and tied for MVP of the Tournament.
