Goodwill Day

Goodwill Day is one of the most significant and cherished events on the Kingsmead calendar. Held each year in celebration of the College’s birthday, it is a day that reflects the very heart of who we are.

Rather than celebrating ourselves, we choose to celebrate through service, using this milestone as an opportunity to give back to our wider community and support organisations making a tangible difference in the lives of others.

This tradition is deeply rooted in the vision of Kingsmead’s founder, D.V. Thompson, who described goodwill as more than simply wishing others well, but rather as “doing something active for the welfare of another.” Today, Goodwill Day remains a celebration of that belief, bringing together our community in a spirit of understanding, fellowship, generosity, and meaningful action.

Goodwill Day encourages students, parents, staff, alumnae, and community partners to support outreach initiatives and beneficiary organisations. The day is filled with activities, fundraising opportunities, community engagement, entertainment, and service-driven experiences that inspire our community to contribute to causes greater than themselves.

As we prepare for Goodwill Day 2026, we look forward to welcoming the Kingsmead community for a day of connection, celebration, and lasting impact.
