Reflecting on a bustling November, we are filled with pride at the incredible energy and connection displayed throughout our Kingsmead community. We celebrated new leadership and creative milestones, and honoured achievements in sports and service! Read more below.

Congratulations to Pearl Sithole and Thato Makhalemele on their appointment as Kingsmead College’s 2026 Johannesburg Junior Councillors!

Their selection follows a rigorous interview process conducted by a panel including Liezel van Lith (Grade 10 Coordinator), Karen Landi (Director of Service), and outgoing Councillors Bethany Sinclaire and Humayrah Ebrahim.

We are incredibly proud of both Pearl and Thato for stepping into this meaningful leadership role. Their dedication to service and their school community truly embodies the Kingsmead spirit.

A heartfelt thank you to all the applicants who showed courage and commitment throughout the process.

Our Grade 0s have just completed our Unit of Inquiry on Responsibility, where the girls learned valuable life skills, from tying their shoelaces and brushing their teeth properly to helping with chores at home and school.

To celebrate their learning, the Grade 0s came to school in their pyjamas for a special morning of real-life responsibility! They packed their own bags with everything they needed to get ready for the day, including uniforms, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and hairbrushes.

After setting their breakfast tables and enjoying a delicious meal of toast and cereal, they washed and dried their dishes, got dressed, tied their shoes, brushed and flossed their teeth, and even did their own hair!

We are so proud of our independent and responsible little girls; what a remarkable milestone in their learning journey.

We are incredibly proud to share that Zothile Ndiweni represented Northstars and the Gauteng Province at the National Gymnastics Championships held in Pretoria in October.

Zothile achieved an impressive 2nd place overall on floor and 10th place among the top 28 Level 8 gymnasts in South Africa!

What an outstanding achievement; your hard work and dedication continue to inspire us all.

As part of a First Additional Language (Sesotho) class activity, Mr Quinn took a seat as the learner, guided by one of our confident young teachers-in-the-making! Moments like these remind us that learning is a shared journey, and that curiosity and the courage to learn never stop, no matter your age.

We are very proud of Giorgia Bemelman, whose generosity and big-hearted spirit were recently featured on Good Things Guy.

For her 9th birthday, Giorgia chose to do something extraordinary; instead of gifts, she asked for donations of essentials to support children in need. Her selfless act reflects the true heart of a Kingsmead student: compassion, courage, and service.

Giorgia, thank you for reminding us what kindness in action looks like. You inspire our community, and we celebrate you!

We are also excited to introduce our 2026 incoming councillors, Jessica Legg and Shanaya Tickoo! With big shoes to fill, they step into this role with our full confidence and support. We know they will continue the tradition of leadership and excellence at Kingsmead.

They walked out of their final exams with full hearts, big smiles… and white socks.

Our matric class of 2025 closed this chapter exactly as they lived it; in generosity, courage, and community.

As they donated their school shoes and took their final steps as Kingsmead students, we celebrate the hard work and spirit that carried them here.

Well done, Class of 2025! Your journey begins now.

Anything-But-a-Bag Day did not disappoint!

Our students arrived with the most inventive “bags”, proving that creativity and compassion go hand in hand.

Thank you for donating stationery, pre-loved bags, and contributions to support children in need for the 2026 school year.

Your hearts are as bright as your imaginations.
