Our final term began during September, and what better way to start than in the fresh bloom of spring. Our students are back, ready to embrace the new season with energy, enthusiasm, and smiles.
As the flowers begin to blossom, so do our young minds, eager to learn and grow together. Here’s to a vibrant and exciting Term 3!
The Senior School is off to a flying start for Term 3!
We kicked off with an action-packed interhouse athletics event, where the spirit was sky-high, and even the teachers couldn’t resist joining in on the fun.
What a way to launch into the final stretch of the year – together, with energy, excitement, and a touch of friendly competition. Let’s keep this momentum going.
On August 16th, some of our Grade 9 students had the amazing opportunity to attend the WITS Career and Sports Day.
They gained valuable insights from university representatives on various WITS courses and the application process, preparing for their future! Alongside the career talks, the day was filled with energy as students took part in netball, chess, soccer, and tug-of-war, connecting with students from other schools.
It was a day of learning, growth, and sportsmanship – a glimpse into what’s ahead for our learners!
Our Grade 4 students kicked off their topic, “Inquiry of the Senses”, with an exciting sensory testing activity.
Blindfolded and curious, they explored the world using only their senses of touch, taste, and smell. A truly engaging way to start this learning journey!
What a morning! Our Kingsmead runners had SO much fun at their first 10km run.
The energy was incredible, and we couldn’t be prouder of our girls for crossing that finish line with smiles and determination. Such a proudly Kingsmead moment.
What an incredible day at the Junior School Inter House Athletics event. Our students, staff, and parents showcased their talent and determination on the track, and the atmosphere was electric.
A huge congratulations to Thanes for bringing home both the overall trophy and the spirit cup.
Thank you to everyone who participated, assisted, and cheered – together, we created an unforgettable experience! Well done, everyone!
Our Art students had the incredible opportunity to attend the FNB Art Fair.
It was an amazing exhibition featuring a variety of artists and mediums all in one space.
The experience of seeing such unique pieces and subjects was truly inspiring.
With so many schools in attendance, it was fantastic to witness how much visual arts are valued and celebrated!
Kingsmead Shines at Gauteng Provincials!
In September, our senior debaters showcased incredible skill at the Gauteng Provincial competition, representing Kingsmead with pride and brilliance. Competing against top schools in the province, our debaters displayed sharp critical thinking and creativity throughout.
The Kingsmead Music Department launched a DJ Course for the Grade 7s of 2024. We’re so excited to embark on this journey, where our students will dive into cutting-edge music technology, preparing them for a future where digital fluency is essential.
We are proud of our Debate coach, Tumelo Bore, who has been selected as a provincial debating coach by the Gauteng Schools Debating Board.
Tumelo will be involved in selecting and coaching the team that will represent Gauteng at the South African Schools National Debating Championship. Tumelo has proven himself to be one of the best coaches in the province, and we are lucky to have him at Kingsmead.
Congratulations, and well deserved, Tumelo!

Our Grade 8s hopped on the iconic red bus for an unforgettable journey through the heart of Johannesburg.
As part of the #LoveJozi module, they explored the rich history, vibrant culture, and hidden gems of this incredible city.
From the past to the present, they returned with newfound knowledge and a greater pride for Jozi. Here’s to shaping the next generation of Jozi ambassadors!
Celebrating World Rhino Day at Kingsmead College!
During September, our community came together to support the conservation of these majestic creatures by selling goodies for a great cause.
Every small action counts in protecting our rhinos and preserving our wildlife. Together, we can make a difference.

Our Senior School students and staff turned the runway into a cultural kaleidoscope! They showcased the vibrant beauty of South African fashion, representing diverse cultures and sharing fascinating facts.
Congratulations to our newly inducted 2025 Student Leadership Team. These remarkable young leaders embarked on a journey of commitment to inspiration, dedication, and service to our school community. It was a heartfelt occasion reflecting on the journey that brought us here and the commitment these young leaders are ready to embrace. Their commitment marks the beginning of a new chapter, and we are excited to see their impact as they guide and uplift us all.

MORNINGTON MOMENTS: Two weeks during September were filled with wonderment and awe as we celebrated Spring Planting Day, embraced our heritage by sharing our stories and culture, and observed the chicken eggs in the incubators.
Spring Planting Day was a delightful experience for the girls as they enthusiastically planted seeds and explored the magic of gardening.
Watching the chicks hatch was a moment of pure joy as the girls gathered to witness the beginning of a new life.
The season of growth has filled our classrooms with joy, curiosity, and a newfound appreciation for the wonders of life around us!
Our Grade 8 students participated in two inspiring drama workshops with ZikkaZimba Productions. As they prepared for their Practical Examination in the final term, they immersed themselves in the world of “Poor Theatre,” mastering the art of storytelling using only their voice and body. Through creativity and improvisation, they learned to build scenes and express themselves like never before. We love to see their hard work come to life!
