We are exceptionally proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Kingsmead alumna Dr Pippa Durr, Deputy Head Girl of the Class of 2008 💚
Pippa has recently completed her Master of Medicine in Paediatrics at Stellenbosch University, graduating cum laude after nearly 16 years of dedicated study.
As part of her degree, she conducted research on the utilisation of community-based services for children in the Cape Metro. Her work focused on strengthening connections between healthcare facilities and community-based care, aiming to improve continuity of care for vulnerable children. This is a critically important area within the South African healthcare context.
Pippa’s journey is also one of resilience. She completed her studies while navigating fertility challenges and welcoming her daughter, demonstrating exceptional perseverance and commitment.
She is currently working at Victoria Hospital in paediatric infectious diseases, allergy and neurodevelopmental clinics. Looking ahead, Pippa hopes to sub-specialise in infectious diseases and ultimately pursue a career as a community paediatrician.
Pippa reflects on her time at Kingsmead College as formative in shaping her sense of purpose, compassion and resilience, values that continue to guide her professional path.
We are incredibly proud of Pippa and look forward to seeing the continued impact of her work 💚
