March 2026 was packed with fun, growth, connection, and teamwork. We are incredibly proud to have been able to watch our girls thrive during March!
We were delighted to welcome award-winning South African author, Refiloe Moahloli, to Kingsmead College as we launched our DEIBS “Hello Campaign.”
Refiloe enthralled our Mornington to Grade 3 girls with beautiful snippets from her books, and a reading of How Many Ways Can You Say Hello? A reminder that every greeting carries the possibility of connection and belonging.
She then engaged our Grade 4–7 girls in meaningful conversation about celebrating diversity, being seen, and understanding that each of us has a story that matters.
At Kingsmead, DEIBS is about nurturing a culture where every girl feels recognised, valued and affirmed.

Big congratulations to our Johannesburg Mini Councillors!
Jessica Legg has been elected to the Special Projects Committee, and Shanaya Tickoo has been appointed Vice Chair of the Eco Committee.
We are so proud of your leadership and the positive impact you are making.
Our Public Speaking Trophy Team delivered an outstanding performance last month, earning an A+ for their powerful presentation!
Their speech explored the difficult but important topic of murder, addressing issues such as femicide in South Africa, how violence can be prevented, and the realities of being a woman today.
We are so proud of the courage and dedication our students brought to this important conversation.
Congratulations to the following squash players:
- Stella was crowned the CCJ Aucklandpark Club Championship Junior Female Champion
- Mia finished in an impressive second place
An especially proud moment as Stella’s name will now be added to the CCJ Honours Board, a wonderful achievement!
Our Kingsmead Junior School Choir took to the stage at the Singing Sistas Festival, hosted by St Mary’s School Waverley, in a celebration of girls’ schools coming together through music.
Our choir sang beautifully, and the evening was filled with joyful music-making. What a fantastic way to begin the year and our first performance event of the term.
Students teamed up for our Additional Languages Dress-Up Day, bringing idioms to life through creativity and plenty of laughter!
Learners dressed up to represent different idioms, shared the meanings behind their expressions, and took part in interactive games and Kahoot! quizzes. Some groups even went a step further by creating AI-generated songs inspired by their idioms.
It was a joyful celebration of language and collaboration… but now we’re curious.
Arts & Service joined forces to host our service partners for the final dress rehearsal of Matilda. It was a day filled with joy and meaningful connection.
Together we shared our space, our stage, and a little bit of the magic that theatre brings. Over 130 copies of Matilda were gifted to the students, giving them the opportunity to take a piece of the story home and continue the adventure beyond the stage.
It was a beautiful reminder of how the arts and service can come together to inspire, uplift, and connect.
Interschool Volunteering Initiative Fun Day was held at Field of Dreams, with our partner schools and the amazing team from Jozi My Jozi.
Students from our schools came together not just to play soccer and netball, but to connect, volunteer, and spend meaningful time with inner-city and Soweto youth. We visited the Children’s Home and shared laughter and friendly matches on the field, keeping the spirit of community alive.
Thank you to our partner schools; De La Salle Holy Cross College Roedeanschool SA, St David’s Marist Inanda, Marist Brothers Linmeyer, and everyone who joined us to make the day so special.
On World Happiness Day we celebrated that happiness at Kingsmead is at the heart of who we are, a value that shapes our days and the way we show up for one another.
It’s found in shared laughter, meaningful friendships, and the small, everyday moments that make our community so special. These glimpses of joy remind us that when we feel supported and connected, we truly thrive.
Eight Kingsmead students participated in the Kids’ Lit Quiz at St John’s, an exciting, fast-paced literary competition that brought together 32 teams from schools across Johannesburg.
Our two teams placed 16th and 21st, a wonderful achievement in such a competitive event. We are incredibly proud of our students for their teamwork and for representing Kingsmead so well.

Our U16 Hockey students played their hearts out at the St Andrew’s Hockey and Netball Festival. It was a weekend filled with determination, teamwork, and great spirit, and we are incredibly proud of the way the team represented Kingsmead.

World Maths Day fun at Kingsmead!
Our Grade 1s took a very exciting trip to the Senior School today, where they were taught by our Matric maths teachers – and we think the teachers might have had just as much fun as the Grade 1s!
There was lots of counting, problem-solving and big smiles all around.
Matilda The Musical at Kingsmead in 2026 was nothing short of magical in every way. From the very first moment to the final curtain call, it was filled with heart and extraordinary skill.
The energy on stage, the attention to detail, and the depth of storytelling created something unforgettable, one of those performances that stays with you long after the lights go down.
Beyond the spotlight, what makes productions like this so special are the friendships and connections formed along the way. Long rehearsals, shared nerves, bursts of laughter, and moments of triumph, these are the bonds that last far beyond the final bow and become memories carried for a lifetime.
Word spread far and wide, and we were so thrilled to receive a special note from Embeth Davidtz, the original Miss Honey from Matilda (1996); such an incredible moment for our cast and team!
So proud of every single person involved, our phenomenal performers, passionate staff, and the many hands behind the scenes who brought this story to life.
Thank you to the schools, players, supporters, staff, families, and everyone else who made #CourageFest26 the success it was! We can’t wait to see you again in 2027.

A proud moment for Kingsmead!
Pia Daya, who performed in Diary of a Wimpy Kid last year, was part of a production that won the 2026 Naledi Theatre Award for Best Production for Children and Young Audiences.
