Kingsmead College had some amazing January 2025 highlights, including excellent results from our Matric class of 2024. We saw excited new faces at the school for Grades 00, 0, 1 and 8, and celebrated achievements from teachers and students alike! Read more below.
Congratulations to Tumelo Bore, Gauteng Provincial Coach, for leading the debate team to victory at the South African National Schools Debating Championship Open Final!
The team excelled, winning 6 out of 8 preliminary rounds and triumphing in the finals on a 5-2 split against a challenging motion. Tumelo’s leadership and dedication shone brightly throughout the competition.

Meet our Matric “A” Stars!
Each of our Kingsmead students has their own distinct way of shining, here are some interesting facts about our “A” stars.
With the highest number of students completing their President’s Award Silver at the end of last year, many of our Kingsmead College students are eager to achieve their Gold Level this year!
Five of our students embarked on an exciting Gold Residential Project, joined by six students from St John’s. The project, facilitated by African Insights, took place in Pongola and was packed with adventure and learning such as:
- Setting up camera traps and viewing the footage
- Bush walks, conservation service, game drives, and telemetry
- Participating in Master Chef Pongola
- A night game drive with the most incredible sightings
- Learning about elephant tracking collars, with all five students fitting into one collar
What an unforgettable experience this was.

A milestone moment for our Grade 8 students!
Last week, our Grade 8 students kicked off their high school journey with an exciting orientation day! The day started with a warm welcome from Mrs Palmer and the Kingsmead leaders to the new students, setting the tone for a year filled with growth, challenges, and success.
To top it off, the students had the special honour of ringing the bell after chapel—marking the beginning of a new chapter in their Kingsmead College experience.
The Grade 8s also had an unforgettable adventure to kick off the year by going on camp, and we cannot wait to hear about the laughter, challenges and building new friendships.
