December was a memorable month. Our community has once again demonstrated the heart of Kingsmead through generosity and celebration. We closed the year with creativity and sporting excellence to impactful service.
Anything-But-A-Bag marked our final collection drive for the year; an initiative focused on gathering stationery and bags for those in need.
Every donation was checked, sorted and packed, ensuring that we give with dignity and care. Our Kingsmead students spent the morning working alongside our friends from San Salvador Community Hub, banding and preparing each item for its next home.

We closed off our Kingfisher Awards series with the exceptional overall winner!
This advert stood out from concept to execution, a true showcase of creativity and intention. Every detail was carefully considered, from the warm and consistent colour palette to the striking composition. Smooth transitions, purposeful camera work, and dynamic editing created a seamless flow that kept viewers fully immersed.
A production that felt professional and deeply aligned with Kingsmead’s values.
Congratulations to Team 10 (Intellectual Wellness) for securing 1st place!
We are proud to share that Amy Falcon, a newly matriculated Kingsmead student, has been selected as a Global Youth Ambassador for Theirworld, an internationally recognised children’s charity based in the UK.
As part of this influential global network, Amy will help champion every child’s right to:
- A safe place to learn
- The best possible start in life
- The skills needed for a bright future

Rorisang Mamathuba – Rhythmic Gymnastics
Competing as part of the Junior Olympic Group, Rorisang delivered exceptional performances, earning:
- Silver for the Whoop group routine
- Gold for the Ribbon group routine
- Overall Silver for the Nene routine
Stephanie Walker – Artistic Gymnastics (Level 7)
- Stephanie earned Gauteng Full Colours and placed 9th overall among 42 gymnasts, representing Gauteng and Gymworks Gymnastics.
Franky Lyons – Artistic Gymnastics (Level 7)
- Franky achieved Gauteng Full Colours, representing Gauteng and Northstars Gymnastics. She placed 18th overall out of 42 gymnasts.
Sophie Storey – Artistic Gymnastics
- Sophie has been selected to compete in the 2026 Level 1 Gymnastics Regional Competition for Northstars Gymnastics.
We are incredibly proud of all four of these talented gymnasts. Your hard work continues to inspire our Kingsmead community.

A huge congratulations to two of our students for their outstanding achievements:
- Anvita Nunna has been selected for the U11 Gauteng Girls Cricket Team.
- Morgan Chen-Heyneke excelled at the South African Archery Indoor National Championships, taking 1st place and bringing home a Gold Medal. She is now officially ranked No. 1 in South Africa in the Under 13 Girls Recurve category.

In December, our Junior School Marimba Bands lit up JoyJozi Restaurant with their energetic performance, much to the delight of everyone there.
Over that same weekend, the Wind Band, Junior Orchestra, and Jazz Band continued the musical magic at the Nicarela Christmas Market, adding beautiful sounds to a vibrant community event.
Well done to all our talented musicians!
Inés Bregman had the incredible opportunity to participate in a master class with Cobus Du Toit, Associate Professor of Flute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and principal flautist of the Boulder Chamber Orchestra. Cobus was on sabbatical at the University of Pretoria.
The session offered invaluable guidance and insight, with a special focus on interpreting a piece by Telemann. What an inspiring experience for a young musician! Well done, Inés.

During Wellness Week at Kingsmead, our TDI Department invited Azanian Games to bring their creativity and fun to campus!
Our Grade 8–11 students enjoyed a series of team-building activities designed to promote connection, movement, and laughter.
