Our girls and staff shined this month as we partook in festive moments like our Christmas play, fashion shows, and many musical and sports events to be proud of. We definitely ended the year off with a bang!

Our December Junior School assembly was filled with festive cheer as our talented students brought the Christmas spirit to life during the Kingsmead Christmas Play!

From heartfelt performances to joyful melodies, it was a wonderful reminder of the season’s magic. Well done to everyone involved.

Kingsmead was thrilled to host a talk by Martene Michael, a dynamic registered dietitian from Nutri Dynamix and Lean Lab, as part of our Wellness Week. Martene shared her expertise on nutrition and well-being with students and staff, providing practical tips for balanced meals, hydration, and more thoughtful food choices.

Her inspiring workshops left a lasting impression, sparking healthy conversations across our school community. A big thank you to the Pastoral Committee for organising this event!

A big thank you to our young musicians for entertaining the school community and ending the year on such a high note.

On 27 November, our Senior School students attended an eye-opening lecture by Stadio Fashion School, South Africa’s leading fashion design and retail training institution. Guest speakers and lecturers, Elizabeth Dreyer and Tumi Montsho, shed light on the harsh realities of fast Fashion, from exploitative labour to environmental damage.

Students left inspired to embrace ethical shopping habits like thrifting, supporting local designers, and investing in sustainable, long-lasting clothing. We can’t wait to showcase our recycled fashion designs at the inter-house fashion show!

Congratulations to the Kingsmead divers for your incredible achievements at the recent SA Schools Diving competition.

On 28 November, Kingsmead’s annual inter-house soccer event brought Grades 8 to 11 students together for a day of goals, cheers, and house spirit! The Grade 11 team ensured everything ran smoothly while Ms Dibetswe and Mr Padayachy umpired with patience.

Friendships were formed with live commentary, vibrant supporters, and unforgettable moments and memories were made on and off the field.

Kingsmead College was buzzing with excitement as our annual inter-house dance competition took the spotlight. Timlin, Kruger, and Baker House students showcased their creativity and teamwork in an unforgettable event. With just 30 minutes to choreograph and rehearse, they brought their A-game, with some even sourcing their own outfits to elevate their performances.

A colourful celebration of talent, passion, and camaraderie; each participant left their heart on the stage. Huge congratulations to all involved for making this year’s event truly special!

As part of Wellness Week, our students embraced the art of balance and mindfulness with an enriching yoga session led by the experienced Ristha Sanei.

From easing muscle tension to alleviating academic stress, the session highlighted how yoga promotes physical strength, mental clarity and inner peace. Thank you to the Pastoral Committee for creating this restorative experience for our Kingsmead community.

Digitech Day was bursting with excitement as our students dove into the digital world! They got hands-on with AI, augmented reality, green screens, coding, robotics and stop-motion animation, creating amazing projects while fully immersing themselves in the fun of exploring new tech.

The day was packed with hands-on learning and creativity as they brought amazing projects to life while embracing the excitement of cutting-edge tech.

Our Grade 9 sound engineering and music production students had an incredible day at Universal Music Studios. Guided by the amazing 808 (Thuthuka Mbanjwa), they dove into the world of music production, participated in hands-on activities, and even created a song on the spot!

A huge thank you to 808 for sharing his expertise and providing such a unique and inspiring learning experience.

Our Senior School students battled it out in a thrilling general knowledge quiz in December! From space to music, we tested our smarts across six exciting categories. Baker House took the lead, confidently answering questions, while Timlin showed off their sports expertise. Kruger brought their A-game in every round!

The quiz, filled with dramatic music and clever dad jokes, had everyone laughing, and they ended the day with a lively karaoke session, complete with teachers joining in for a surprise twist.

Our Junior School students have made an incredible impact through their Service projects this year, showing the power of compassion and teamwork.

We had a fantastic time reconnecting with our incredible alumnae at the recent meet-up. It was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces, share memories and hear about all the amazing things they’ve been up to.

Once a Kingsmead girl, always a Kingsmead girl! Here’s to staying connected and celebrating the unique bond we all share.

Reconciliation requires a deliberate choice to walk the path of understanding, healing, and unity. We are reminded of the wisdom of our founder, DV Thompson: ‘In our diversity, let us find strength; in our differences, let us seek harmony.’

At Kingsmead, we honoured this legacy by fostering compassion, respect, and inclusivity within our school and beyond. Together, we build bridges of connection and hope for a brighter future.

Reconciliation Day
