We are delighted to share an update from Catherine du Toit, who is currently completing her final year of a BA Music degree at the University of Bristol, where she studies voice with Angela Hickey.

Catherine has been actively involved in a wide range of musical collaborations with chamber groups, choirs and societies, and has appeared frequently as a soloist in University productions and concerts. Her most recent operatic role was Dido in the University’s production of Dido and Aeneas.

She has also performed as a soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Lauda Sion at the University’s A Night with BUMS concert, and in both 2024 and 2025 appeared in the Bristol University Opera Society Arias Concert, performing repertoire from Bizet’s Carmen and Puccini’s Tosca. At her final Arias Concert, she looks forward to performing works from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Delibes’ Lakmé.

Catherine’s upcoming engagements include performing as a soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem in March 2026 and making her first professional operatic debut as Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto with the Bristol-based chamber opera company Tessitoura in May 2026.

Alongside her studies and performance work, Catherine receives coaching from Darrell Babidge, Head of Vocal Studies at Juilliard. She also shares operatic content online, with her videos reaching more than 1 million views. In addition, she volunteers with ACE (Aspiration Creation Elevation), supporting music mentoring initiatives for communities in Bristol.

We are proud to see Catherine flourishing and wish her every success in the final few months of her BA Music degree 💚
