Bursaries 2026

Kingsmead College is a Christian school for girls, which embodies a distinctive ethos where the individual matters first and foremost and where each student is nurtured to contribute to the Republic of South Africa in all its diversity. As a country, our racially divisive past results in skewed racial patterns within the broader College community. As a school in the South African context, we recognise the need to reconcile and harmonise constitutional imperatives of dignity and equality with the aims and objectives to promote gender equality and inclusivity.

Kingsmead College currently has 20 students on our bursary programme from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Some bursaries are awarded in conjunction with the Alexandra Education Committee, and all are administered through the Kingsmead Trust.

We are continually evaluating the purpose and impact of our programmes. In 2019, we adjusted our scholarship criteria, which had previously only been given for excellence, with a move to fellowships to enable the College to identify more students with potential. We took the decision to shift this funding again (except for two scholarships) towards bursaries from 2022. There will thus be a limited number of bursaries available for 2026. These will be academic bursaries awarded to those students who are South African, who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and who show potential in academic, sports, cultural or leadership spheres of their current schools.

Applications for these bursaries are now open for entry to Kingsmead College for Grade 8 2026 only.

Please note that you will also need to submit an admission form to accompany your bursary application. We will be unable to consider applications without the admission form.

Kingsmead College is committed to making quality education accessible to deserving students who may require financial assistance. Our bursary program is aimed at supporting families who demonstrate financial need while ensuring their daughters can benefit from the unique educational experience we offer.

The bursary application process includes a detailed submission of financial information along with the required supporting documents. Applications are reviewed confidentially, and bursaries are granted at the discretion of the College based on need, academic merit, and available funding.

We believe every student deserves the chance to unlock their full potential, and our bursary programme reflects our dedication to inclusivity and opportunity.
