April and May 2026 were filled with new experiences, achievements and good causes. We continue to be proud of our girls and everything they do!
We are so proud of our Grade 4–7 students who recently represented our school at the Chatterbox public speaking event at Roedean School. Stepping onto a stage in front of unfamiliar faces takes true courage, and each of them rose to the occasion with confidence.
From writing and refining their own speeches to delivering them with conviction, these young speakers embodied what it means to grow beyond their comfort zone. Their willingness to take on this challenge reflects the heart of our theme this year: to bloom – not only where you are planted, but in the face of new and unfamiliar opportunities.
A throwback to when our students arrived expecting a normal school day (starting with assembly, of course)… only to be surprised with a full day of fun, games and wellness activities!
From yoga and 9D breathwork to classic games like Jenga, Uno, Twister, musical chairs and more, the day was filled with a chance to simply be happy together.
Each class had the opportunity to unwind, play and recharge; safe to say… this is one April Fools’ surprise no one will forget!
This April Fools’ Day, we replaced our academic timetable with a day dedicated to service.
Our students rolled up their sleeves for Service Packing, creating hampers using generous donations from Share What You Can and contributions from across the grades.
Donations were delivered to Baragwanath Hospital, Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, Look Forward Children’s Home and The San Salvador Community Hub, while mother-and-baby essentials were prepared for The Grace Factory to support new mothers and their little ones.
It was a day that truly reflected the heart of Kingsmead: compassion, community, and the joy of giving back.
A huge well done to Abigail Weber on her outstanding performance at the SSA Level 3 Regionals.
Abigail achieved personal bests in all her events and brought home:
- Bronze in the 50m Butterfly
- Silver in the 50m Backstroke
- Gold in the Mixed 4x50m Relay

Our Career Exploration Day was an opportunity for Kingsmead students to engage with a wide range of career paths and future opportunities. From connecting with tertiary institutions to hearing the inspiring journeys of our Kingsmead alumnae, the day was filled with possibility.
The evening concluded with a special networking session, where students had the chance to connect with parents, alumnae and volunteers, ask questions, gain advice and even open doors to future job-shadowing opportunities.
A heartfelt thank you to every parent, alumna, volunteer and institution. Your involvement helped make the day so impactful for our students, and we’re grateful for the role you continue to play in shaping the next generation.
We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Kingsmead students in water polo!
Congratulations to Kyla Hall and Erin Boyd on their selection to represent the South African team at the World Aquatics Women’s U16 Water Polo Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, from 25–31 July 2026, with Kristin Billett also earning recognition as a non-travelling reserve.
We know they will represent both South Africa and Kingsmead with pride and courage.

Over a weekend last month, our Kingsmead students rolled up their sleeves alongside the Alex Water Warriors for a river clean-up initiative, taking action to care for our environment and contribute to a cleaner, healthier community. Our students were reminded that meaningful change begins with small actions and collective effort.
We are proud to see our students living out Kingsmead’s values through purposeful action.
What a phenomenal achievement for our netball programme!

What a magical week it was at Kingsmead!
From teachers stepping into the pages of beloved stories to our little bees buzzing with excitement at Bee Day, Book Week was filled with a shared love of reading. Families gathered in the gardens for a special reading picnic, our Senior Primary girls were captivated by the wonderful performances of Hooked on Books, and the week culminated in a colourful character dress-up day as favourite storybook characters came to life across our campus.
As we turned the page on a truly memorable Book Week, we looked forward to welcoming our community to the Kingsmead Book Fair!
On Sunday, 24 May, our Kingsmead Senior School Choir proudly took to the stage at the annual CCNF Choir Festival alongside six exceptional children’s, youth, adult and university choirs.
It was a beautiful afternoon celebrating a variety of musical styles and genres, united by a shared love of choral music and performance.
We could not be prouder of the way they showcased their talent and dedication.
Two wonderful weeks of Kingsmead Music Festivals!
In the first week, we welcomed six other schools to perform alongside our choir at the Kingsmead Masicule Choir Festival, with two wonderfully varied and engaging evenings of choral singing.
The second week saw us host the 20th Annual Ensemble Festival.
Well done to all our musicians for their hard work and dedication in preparing for these events.
From PrEDA to FEDA, our Kingsmead Drama students moved audiences with performances filled with extraordinary talent.
This year’s production, The Accused, written by our Bethany Sinclaire and Moe Mlobela, invited audiences to reflect on bias, judgment and society. The production was incredibly impactful, and brought to life by our Grade 11 and Matric Drama students.
We are so proud of every student involved, both on stage and behind the scenes, for the dedication they poured into this production.
Comfy slippers for a meaningful cause.
Last month, our Kingsmead community stepped into Slippers Day in support of the The Reach For A Dream Foundation, bringing hope to children fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Every pair of slippers worn was an act of service.
