Dear Parents

Generosity of Spirit

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God”

2 Corinthians 9:11

“To whom much is given, much is required” Luke 12:48

It is at this time of the year that we observe true generosity of spirit and a culture of giving. Thank you to our parents who have assisted us in all our service initiatives this year. Our girls have contributed so much on so many levels to organisations which exist for the benefit of the community at large. The pure love of giving is something which comes so naturally for our young girls. For this I am grateful.

We endeavour to promote a culture where girls not only give items and money as a means to assist community service initiatives. It is also important for girls to develop a desire to give of their time and selves in service. To truly learn from community service initiatives, it is important for children to develop meaningful relationships with partnerships and commit to service over a period of time. In 2019 we will be aligning our service initiatives as grade initiatives which will continue over a period of time. This is an exciting structure that allows for consistency and exposure to many initiatives. The girls will get the opportunity to visit or engage with the community directly. Communication in this regard will be sent at the start of 2019.

As you prepare for the year-end celebrations, I wish you all happiness and joy.

SPORTS NEWS:

Congratulations to our divers, novice and experienced for their effort this past week. It was impressive to see the number of young divers coming through the ranks. If there ever is a sport that requires courage, it has to be diving! As a diver you are completely exposed to the weather elements; height of the board as well as the social element of standing on your own for all the spectators to see. When the dives did not go according to plan (as could be heard when the diver landed horizontally, and the crowd winced in solidarity with the diver), it was encouraging to see the comradery between the divers regardless of allegiance. So, to all the Kingsmead divers it is with the utmost respect I acknowledge you and commend you on following through on our school motto. May you always be courageous in your endeavours.
