Leigh Smidt-Hart
Leigh Smidt-Hart is a South African author with a lifelong passion for storytelling. She further developed her appetite for the craft while working as a journalist at a local community newspaper in the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg. For over seven jam-packed years in the media industry, Leigh worked her way up from Junior Journalist to News Editor, gaining invaluable experience and insight into the human stories that connect us all. She eventually decided to leave her newsroom career to focus on her family, but her desire to write and make a difference never faded.
Today, instead of chasing headlines, Leigh uses her skills to craft meaningful stories for children and parents to share. As a wife, mother, avid animal and art lover, she is inspired daily by her son and the ever-changing world they face together. Remember Me is Leigh’s debut children’s book, born from a personal journey through grief and healing. Through this story, she hopes to gently explore this complex and difficult topic and offer young readers and their parent’s comfort, understanding, and a reminder that love lives on, even after loss.
