Esther Keats

Esther Keats is an Occupational therapist, a children’s book author and a keen birder. She holds a BSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of the Western Cape and an MSc from the University of the Witwatersrand. From a very young age, Esther has always had a passion for storytelling and connecting with young people and adults from different cultures and backgrounds. She has written “Hidden Colours under the Sea” and “What Lives Under the Sea”, and co-authored “My First Book of Kruger Birds: Birding by Fives”, “Wild Alphabet: A-Z of African Mammals” and “There’s a Dinosaur in My Tree”.

She has worked and lived in South Africa, Fiji, the United States, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. For more than a decade, Esther has passionately observed and explored the intricate workings of nature in the wild places of southern Africa. During this time, she became committed to sharing her nature experiences and knowledge with young readers. Esther lives in the bushveld, just a 40-minute drive from Kruger National Park. She spends every moment she can exploring the natural world of the Park and its surrounds, sharing her nature experiences and knowledge with young readers.
