December at Kingsmead College is a time of celebration, reflection and community.
The Kingsmead Christmas market arrived, and we finally unveiled the beautiful Grade 7 leavers’ gift, made possible through their own fundraising and hard work. We all had plenty of fun when the Senior School girls held their fashion show, as well as a games day, where everyone got to dye their own T-shirt. The girls also experienced rest and relaxation as our wellness team took them through different exercises and explained the importance of balance when it comes to social media.
We wished our community a Merry Christmas, and a joyous season of giving, family and service.
As the year drew to a close, the wellness team created time for students to unwind and exhale following a busy, productive year. The students took part in a yoga session which offered a space to destress and connect with their inner sense of peace. They played games, which provided an opportunity to have fun and unwind, and attended a talk about social media and the importance of finding balance and using it responsibly. The wellness team wished all of our students a restful holiday and time to recharge.
Our Grade 6 classes had the wonderful opportunity to visit two early childhood development centres in Diepsloot, Little Stars and Maseko, where the students got to play games with the children. They spent hours making creative games which the children loved, and so did our Grade 6 girls.
Our annual Christmas Market brought joy and warmth to every corner of our beloved school. We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible PTA, the marimba groups and our local vendors for sprinkling their magic and making the day a success. To our Kingsmead community, your unwavering support, as well as your smiles, laughter, and shared moments make up the essence of our community spirit.
The spirit of the festive season truly came alive during our Christmas assembly. Our talented Grade 7 students took the stage, delivering a performance that embodied the season of giving, service, and coming together as a community. Their portrayal of the holiday spirit was a beautiful reminder of the values we hold dear during this special time of the year. It was also a day filled with pride as we hosted assemblies for Grade 1–3, Grade 4–6, and an extra curricular assembly for our senior school students. Congratulations to all the students who received awards! This was a celebration of your talents and your growth.
We finally revealed the long-awaited Grade 7 leaver’s gift – a stunning pair of wings now gracing the walls outside Joel Hall. Our Grade 7s poured their hearts into fundraising efforts throughout the year to make this dream a reality. Thank you to the incredible parents who stood by their side, offering support and encouragement. Your commitment to these young dreamers played a pivotal role in making this gift come to life.
We witnessed a burst of creativity as our senior school students put on a spectacular fashion show. While championing sustainability, the girls crafted outfits from recycled materials, including newspapers and plastic bags. Well done to our budding designers for your innovation and creativity.
Our senior school students turned our campus into a hub of activity as they set up games of Bingo, bracelet-making and T-shirt dyeing, where they painted their house colours with pride. The results were a visual celebration of school spirit and unity. Well done girls!
The Grade 2 girls made Christmas packages for Siyakhana, their service partners. They loved learning about sustainable living in 2023 and the importance of giving back to their community.
On the Day of Reconciliation, we came together to celebrate diversity and to build bridges that connect hearts.
We wished our beloved Kingsmead community a Merry Christmas and a season filled with joy, laughter, and cherished moments with loved ones. Here’s to spreading love and holiday cheer.
Embracing the spirit of Goodwill Day, we encouraged the spreading of kindness and making every moment count. Together, we can create the positivity that transforms lives.
